9 Historic Homes currently for sale on the National Register of Historic Places.
The National Register of Historic Places is Published by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The Register identifies and preserves structures important to America’s history.
There are currently more than 93,000 properties across the nation on the list. These include the Smith-Carter house, the Tennessee home of country music legend June Carter. Also, Washington’s Hotel Morck, frequented by the late grunge god Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.
To get on the list the structure goes through approval by an advisory council. Then, Owners may qualify for tax breaks, credits, and federal grants for the preservation and maintenance of these properties. The National Park Service oversees the entire process. They maintain a searchable database available to the public and provide step-by-step instructions on how to get a place on the register.
